Kantale, Sri Lanka. Janaka Basnayake was only a young man in his twenties. He was trying to spend as much time as possible buried alive in a deep trench, in order to break the record and enter the Guinness World Records. Inevitably, he put himself in danger and passed away at just 24.
This was the third attempt for the guy, who first buried himself for two hours and a half and then for six. He decided to try again on Saturday morning when he let himself down in a coffin. Unfortunately, after seven hours under surface he was found unconscious and pronounced dead by doctors some time later. The Belfast Telegraph reported that it couldn’t be helped.
Guinness Book of World Records doesn’t accept of course this kind of “venture” and the Sri Lankan government advices anyone against embarking on such a risk.
